AI Policy

To ensure transparency and maintain high standards, we utilize AI technology in various aspects of manuscript evaluation and production. Below are the tasks where AI is employed and measures to ensure human oversight and data privacy.

I. Manuscript Verification

1. Text Consistency, Grammar, and Spelling: AI tools screen for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and other text deficiencies. Authors receive detailed reports highlighting deficiencies and providing clear recommendations for corrections.

2. Plagiarism Check: AI conducts plagiarism checks and generates reports for authors. In cases of minor similarities, recommendations are provided for corrections. Major instances of misconduct result in a rejection recommendation, with final decisions made by human editors.

3. Paper-Mill Flags and Risk Assessment: AI screens for indicators of paper mills and assesses risks. If red flags are detected, authors receive reports with recommendations for additional information. Experts decide on manuscript acceptance or rejection based on the AI report and author clarifications.

4. References Check: AI verifies the style, accuracy, and completeness of references and checks citations for correct numbering within the text.

5. Title Evaluation: AI evaluates titles based on the original title, abstract, and methods sections. Authors are provided with suggestions for clearer and more representative titles for approval.

II. Correspondence with Authors To promote inclusiveness, we allow authors from non-English speaking countries to write messages in their native languages. AI tools automatically translate these messages into English, facilitating more precise and accurate communication with editors. Authors can review and edit their messages before sending them to ensure accuracy.

III. Journal Page

Text-to-Audio Abstract Conversion: AI converts abstract text into audio files. Editors supervise and adjust the process to ensure accuracy and clarity.

Ethical Considerations and Human Oversight Associated with AI Implementation Into Editorial Process.

Human editors and reviewers oversee all AI-assisted processes to ensure quality and reliability. Human experts, not AI systems, make final decisions on manuscripts. We take measures to prevent AI tools from introducing bias into the evaluation process and to maintain adherence to ethical standards.

Data Privacy and Confidentiality: We maintain strict data privacy and confidentiality standards in compliance with relevant regulations. Authors' data is protected throughout the AI processing stages.

Feedback and Accountability: Authors and reviewers are encouraged to provide feedback on the AI tools used in the editorial process. The following accountability measures are in place to address any issues that may arise from AI involvement:

Human Oversight: Human editors and reviewers are involved in all stages of the manuscript evaluation process. Human experts make final decisions on manuscript acceptance, rejection, or revisions.

Feedback Channels: We provide channels for authors and reviewers to report issues or concerns regarding AI-generated outputs. A formal process is established for continuously reviewing and addressing feedback and complaints related to AI use.

Accuracy and Fairness Assessment: We regularly assess AI tools for fairness to ensure they do not disproportionately impact any group of authors.

Regular Audits and Reviews: AI tools are periodically audited to evaluate their performance and accuracy. Identified errors or biases are corrected promptly.
