Abstract
The aim of the present study was to determine the concentration of IL-6 and soluble interleukin-6 receptor sIL-6R as well as the level of selected acute phase proteins in the course of extensive stationary psoriasis.Furthermore, there was an attempt to establish whether there exists any correlation between IL-6 and sIL-6R in the plasma of patients and the extent of psoriatic process measured with PASI. Plasma concentrations of IL-6 and sIL-6R as well as serum concentrations of C-reactive protein, a2macroglobulin and a1antitrypsin were determined in 59 patients with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and then compared with the results obtained from 10 healthy volunteers. Observed levels of IL-6 (14. 38±14. 15 pg/ml) and sIL-6R (17.50±14.60 ng/ml) did not differ from those obtained from control group (IL-6 17.10±11.35 pg/ml and sIL- 6R 23.66±18.42 ng/ml). Psoriatic patients demonstrated statistically higher a2M concentrations (174.8±26.0 mg%) when compared with control group subjects (154.5±15.3 mg%). The levels of (1AAT and CRP in patients with psoriasis (1.716±0.379 mg%) did not differ from corresponding values obtained from control group (1.653±0.311 mg%). Furthermore, we did not observe any correlation between the levels of IL-6 and sIL-6R in the plasma of psoriatic patients and the extent of pathological process measured with PASI.
